Lakeland Central School District high school students
take the field at the New York Jets Sports Business Day
Shrub Oak, NY—The SUPA Sport Management classes from Walter Panas and Lakeland High Schools visited MetLife Stadium to learn about a variety of careers within the Jets organization.
During Sports Business Day, students met with Jets executives from the sales, partnerships, licensing, and community relations departments. The professionals shared insights into their career paths, day-to-day responsibilities, and offered advice for pursuing opportunities in the growing sports business field. In addition to these valuable sessions, students also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium—including the locker room, press box and even time on the field!
"The New York Jets Sports Business Day at MetLife Stadium was an exciting opportunity for our students to experience a real-world sports business environment,” said James DiDonato, CTE Teacher at Lakeland and Walter Panas High Schools. “Touring the field, locker room, luxury clubs and suites while hearing from Jets executives gave students a firsthand look at what it’s like to work in the industry and the behind-the-scenes efforts that make every game possible. It's not every day you get to step onto the same field where a Super Bowl was held and your favorite NFL stars play each week. Immersive learning opportunities like this trip allow our students to enhance their education through meaningful, hands-on experiences outside of the classroom.”
