Shrub Oak, NY—Dr. Karen Gagliardi, superintendent of schools for Lakeland Central School
District, spent a cozy afternoon at the John C. Hart Library, sharing wintery fun stories in their
beautiful new Children’s Room.
Dr. Gagliardi read It's Winter! by Renee Kurilla and Snowmen at Night written by Caralyn
Buehner and illustrated by Mark Buehner. Families enjoyed delicious cookies and hot cocoa
while listening to the stories that kicked off the winter season.
“The stories, cocoa, cookies and chance of the first snow day combined to make it a perfect
winter afternoon with our community,” said Heather Novak, Lakeland’s director of
communications. “We encourage everyone to stop by and check out the newly renovated space at
the John C. Hart Library; it’s an incredible community gem!”
