Jacob Wright’s Eagle Scout Project gives back to his Lakeland Schools by creating Lending Libraries
Shrub Oak, NY — Jacob Wright, a junior at Walter Panas High School and proud
member of Boy Scout Troop 174, has completed an Eagle Scout Project that leaves a
lasting legacy of giving back to the school communities that shaped him.
Jacob spearheaded the effort to build three mini Lending Libraries for the schools he
once called home in the Lakeland Central School District: Lincoln-Titus Elementary,
Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School, and Walter Panas High School.
With generous support from Dain’s Lumber Co. and helping hands from his Troop and
community, Jacob gathered books and constructed the colorful little libraries for
everyone to enjoy. Students are encouraged to take a book and leave another, keeping
the joy of reading circulating throughout the district.
“Jacob is sharing his love of books with the schools where he read many stories during
his education,” said Dr. Karen Gagliardi, superintendent of schools. “We are so grateful
for these mini lending libraries, which will spark students’ imaginations for years to
come.”
