Reimagining Learning: Lakeland holds ribbon cutting ceremonies for Lakeland High School, Walter Panas High School and Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School
Shrub Oak, NY—Lakeland Central School District opened their reimagined library media centers at Lakeland High School, Walter Panas High School and Copper Beech Middle School with ribbon cutting ceremonies on Oct. 10, 2025.
New York State Senator Pete Harckham, State Assemblyman Matt Slater, Yorktown Supervisor Edward Lachterman, Cortlandt Deputy Supervisor James Creighton, Yorktown Police Chief Robert Noble, all joined the Lakeland Board of Education members, administrators, faculty, staff and Lakeland community at the ribbon cutting ceremonies throughout the day.
Students shared their messages of gratitude and hope for the new spaces, which includes artwork created by students in the district. Student musicians rounded out the festive mood at each ribbon cutting.
“This milestone represents years of planning, design, and dedicated effort from our facilities, instructional, and administrative teams, along with the invaluable collaboration of our vendors,” said Dr. Karen Gagliardi, Superintendent of Schools. “The result is a truly transformative learning environment that reflects our commitment to student-centered education and the Capital Project made possible by our community’s unwavering support. These reimagined spaces place Lakeland at the cutting edge of technology and innovation, shaping the way our students will learn, collaborate, and create for years to come.”
