Orchestra 914\, led by Music Director Russell Ger\, will perform music by Latin- American composers including Carlos Gardel's irresistible Por Una Cabeza (made famous in A Scent of a Woman) to Ginestera's toe-tapping Estancia\; from a Brazilian tribute to Bach by Villa-Lobos to the Argentinian king of tango\, Piazzolla\; and finally\, to the roof raising energy of Mexican composter\, Arturo Marquez. The dominant element that unites these composers is unbounded passion\, expressed through intoxicating rhythm. This program will excite those familiar with this music and expose a new audience to this repertoire.
