DESCRIPTION:Tompkins Corners welcomes poet Tony Howarth\, playwright\, director\, and former journalist. Editor for dramatic writing of The Westchester Review and formerly of the editorial page of The World-Telegram and Sun\, Tony retired in 1991 after twenty-eight years as a high school and college teacher of English and Theatre. His professional credits include a dozen plays and an off-Broadway musical\, and his play Thornwood was made into the award-winning indie film Slings and Arrows. He also directed musicals at the College Light Opera Company in Falmouth\, Massachusetts\, for many summers.\n\nTony's poems have appeared in Chronogram\, The Naugatuck River Review\, Raven's Perch\, The Sow's Ear\, The Grayson Press anthology Forgotten Women\, and a play published by The Westchester Review called The Wedding Ring. Wild Man of the Mountain\, his first drama in verse\, was published by Broadstone Books in 2021\, and A Hand to Hold: Three Dramas in Verse in 2022.\n\nThe tradition of the Firepit began last November with poet Anton Yakovlev and Open Mic readers offering their paper poetry to the fire to close out the season. Please join us for this transformative experience. Open mic registration will be available on-site.
